Before we start let’s look at our past and read Chris Kyle’s latest book “American Gun”. Chris reviewed the top 10 guns that changed America. It’s a great read from a great man. What I took away from this book is; the price of a firearm is not an issue if you are standing in the middle of no where out numbered ten to one with bad people trying to kill you and your family.
Scott’s Performance Wish List:
- It always make a loud “bang” with self defense ammo.
- It always make a bang in all types of weather (cold, hot,rain, snow,mud, dust, sand, salt water). Having this feature makes it a little more pricey because this is what elite police officers and military units are trying to find.
- Can I afford the ammo in a regular basis.
- Does it fit in my hand well and have a nice trigger pull.
- Do I love to shoot it, am I proud to own it, can’t stop looking at it(sorry had to throw that in).
The 5 best hand guns on the market today all meet the criteria above on the performance wish list.
The five best new handguns on the market are:
1. Glock the 41 (45cal full size) 42 (380) , 30sf ( 45 cal) the 41 is full size 45 that they have made some improvements on. The 42 will be one of there best sellers. It’s the first small single stack mini Glock in 380. This Glock is easy to shoot will take hot self defense ammo. It’s the first Glock that is truly a pocket pistol. I can see it coming out in 9mm, 45 cal in the future.
2. Springfield XDS in 9mm , 45 cal Very nice shooters , easy to carry in a holster or pocket holster.great deal comes with extra mags and holster.
3. All the new Rugers LC9, LCP,LCR all great shooters well made different calibers. Pistols and revolvers. They All go bang every time.
4. FNX (45 cal) FNS ( 9mm,40) Great gun grip fits the hand well. Can be changed with interchangeable back straps. Theses guns are ready to go right out of the box. Smart company they let their shooting team help design them. The only draw back is an external safety which some trainers will like. ( the brain and the trigger finger is what I teach).
5. Walther PPQ m2 (9mm,40) For the money out of the box ( no trigger jobs ) this the best 9mm hand guns I’ve ever owned.got 1000 rounds through it ( have not cleaned it I don’t recommend this it’s little test) It feels good to the hand , shoots flat well. Has adjustable back straps. I have not shot the 40 yes this feels like a Glock after it’s been customized. Very old company that came out of the box with something great. Hope to see a mini in the future.
Scott’s Personal Top 5:
My five best hand guns will actually turn into more because my picks come in different calibers. And by the way over the years, I’ve owned over 100 different hand guns. My personal 5 best in the last twenty five years have been: Glocks, Sig Sauers, HK, Smith Wesson, and Rugers.
